Bio
One of a new breed of front row forward, former New Zealand U20 prop Jeff Toomaga-Allen has signed on for the Hurricanes for two years from 2012.
Allen made his provincial debut in a non-championship pre-season match against Manawatu in 2011, but a hamstring injury prevented him playing for the Vodafone Wellington Lions in the ITM Cup.
He was 2011 Sportsman of the Year of his Wellington club side Marist St. Pat’s, an honour that in recent years has also been bestowed upon current Hurricane Victor Vito and former Hurricane and now Melbourne Rebel Ged Robinson.
Allen was raised in Porirua, attended secondary school at Wellington College and played for the New Zealand Secondary Schools team in 2008. A national under-20 representative in 2010, he started at tighthead prop in the World Junior Championship 62-17 final win over Australia.
